Quote of the Day – December 31 2011

“Heroes know that things must happen when it is time for them to happen. A quest may not simply be abandoned; unicorns may go unrescued for a long time, but not forever; a happy ending cannot come in the middle of the story.”
–Peter S Beagle

Once again a quote has surprised me. I went looking for quotes on endings, perhaps one that would bring us to a beginning the snake Ourborus forever eating his own tail, or is that tale? Instead I find this amazing quote by Beagle that suggests that the story does not end but will be perpetually in progress.
How do I reconcile this with my belief that every moment can signify a new direction, a new chapter, a new beginning? Need I try? Some stories have the habit of taking wilder shifts than others.
To those of you who follow my blog, who have enjoyed the art, the writing and perhaps even these mini essays, thank you. May this next year find you joyful and healthy and may there be much new art, new jokes, and new stories that we can share.

Quote of the Day – December 30 2011

“All the works of man have their origin in creative fantasy. What right have we then to depreciate imagination.”
— Carl Jung

“If you will practice being fictional for a while, you will understand that fictional characters are sometimes more real than people with bodies and heartbeats. ”
— Richard Bach

“And if you ever hear me calling out
And if you’ve been by paupers crowned
Between the worlds of men and
make-believe
I can be found.”
— Dan Fogelberg

Some nights I feel more real than others. Are those the nights that I actualize myself more or the opposite? I dance among the fictions, the things I’ve experienced and the things that people may believe about me. I realize that any autobiography becomes to the witness that resides at the back of our consciousness at least partly a work of fiction. Namaste, G

Eye in the Lotus by G A Rosenberg

Quote of the Day – December 29 2011

“Some guys step on a rake in the dark, and get mad and go punch somebody. Others step on a rake in the dark and fall down laughing at themselves. I know which kind of guy I’d rather be. So do my friends.”
— Spider Robinson

I hope I possess the gift of being able to laugh at my own foibles. I seem to and have on occasions. Most of the time when I find life a dance, it tends to be because I have trouble keeping my balance. I enjoy that slightly off-kilter feeling. Sometimes I find it easy to laugh at myself along with others. At times not so much. I try my best and you know what. Laughing is better =) Namaste, G

Quote of the Day – December 27 2011

“Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror.”

–Khalil Gibran

Beauty, noticing rain beading up on my windowsill, an idea being born, an infant’s smile; meditation, someone who has found some inner truth, tears. the sky at sunset or at sunrise, snow, friends making up after an argument, some arguments themselves, going within, doing something well for the first time, a new idea, the human form, most animals, imperfection, the universe, diversity, colours in combination, your smile, your eyes, any eyes, realize, flowers, the smell of cinnamon, art, writing, making love, holding hands, touching, giving or receiving a massage, hope, appreciation, understanding and the fact that this list can continue infinitely.

Quote of the Day – December 26 2011

“It’s the questions we can’t answer that teach us the most. They teach us how to think. If you give a man an answer, all he gains is a little fact. But give him a question and he’ll look for his own answers.”
–Patrick Rothfuss

so many people seem reluctant to do just that. They go searching the world seeking for someone who can show them the way. They don’t seek inside themselves. They don’t even seek for answers, not really, they just want someone to tell them not how but what to think, to feel, to intuit. I have also been that ignorant, in many ways I still may be. Quote of the Day – December 25 2011

“Faith is a state of openness or trust.”
Alan Watts

Finally a quote on faith that works for me. It seems so often that people use their faith as a reason to close off to anything that may challenge or contradict it. I see faith as being an open dynamic principle, one that can change and grow. My faith in the universe and in my source grows daily, also my faith in myself. Does that mean that my ideas of the nature of what source may be stays the same, no I hope that I understand more and more the nature of.
Hope everyone reading this has had a joyous and blessed changing of the seasons, no matter what name and symbolic significance it has for you.
